Biscuits

Milk Chocolate Viennese Thins from Tesco are probably the greatest things ever to happen to planet Earth. Of course, I say probably. I’m not sure whether they could rightly contend with the domestic refrigerator or the ending of apartheid, but they should be up there. Then again, I say this after only eating them for the first time yesterday. I might have more tomorrow and wonder what the hell drove me to such hyperbole, but who knows what the future brings?

That was pretty much all I had for this. I did, earlier in the week have one or two ideas knocking around in my brain that I could riff on, but with time making fools of us all and memory being as fickle as a fickle thing I can’t think of to complete that simile right now, I’ve forgotten them. They probably weren’t all that good anyway. Probably something about political idiots or the price of soup or something. When what you really needed to know about was Milk Chocolate Viennese Thins from Tesco.

I haven’t been paid for this by the way. This isn’t some kind of advertising endorsement for which I’m selling out my soul for some financial kickback. This is me literally saying that the discovery of a bunch of biscuits, full of butter and sugar, with one side dipped in chocolate, is probably the one of the best things to happen for me right now. So, you know, just keep that in mind the next time you ask me how things are going in general. Not astoundingly great, not unbearably excruciating, but I have biscuits.

Adding fuel to the fire that the letter W should be named “double-v” is a Canadian indie band with a penchant for 70s-style lo-fi recordings and light, airy vocals. Pronounced “Always”, the story goes that these guys were forced to rename themselves from “Always” by their record label, who had already signed another band called “Always”.

This is one that’s been on the back-burner for a while now. I probably would’ve given it a spot here on an earlier week if other things hadn’t come up first. I worried that holding off on it would mean that by the time I came to including this one in the weekly mix, I might’ve grown sick and tired of it. Fortunately, no. Here it is. It’s nice. Promise.
