Break

Leave me alone, I’m on a break right now.

There’s only so much one can take when one has been plagued by stomach-lingering hangovers, looming deadlines and worries of mass annihilation. This week I’ve booked myself time away and I’ll be damned if this thing interrupts me.

Then again, aren’t we all damned anyway?

Screw it, I’m off to see museums and shit.

I’ve often felt a bit hit and miss with Everything Everything. I don’t consistently like their stuff, yet I don’t consistently loathe it either. If anything, I take them on a song-by-song basis. This one hit me with instant appeal on first listen.

It may start like a ramped-up, slightly futuristic version of the music they did the Hang Tough challenge to on Gladiators (that’s the one with the swinging from ceiling rings) but the one-word repetition of the chorus comes across as big and bold and very enjoyable to these ears. So it only stands to reason that I may not be as enthusiastic about their next one. We’ll see.
